Privacy Policy

The short version

KeepRec does not collect, transmit, store or sell any of your data. Everything the extension does happens locally in your browser. The single exception: when you activate a Pro purchase, the email you enter is used once to verify your license (details below) — and even then it is never stored.

Your recordings

• Recordings are captured, rendered and stored entirely on your device (in your browser's local storage until you save them as files).
• No video, audio, screenshot or page content is ever uploaded to us or to any third party.
• We have no servers that receive user data. We could not see your recordings even if we wanted to.

What we don't do

• No analytics, telemetry or usage tracking of any kind.
• No account, sign-up or login — we never learn your name or email.
• No cookies, no fingerprinting, no advertising identifiers.

Why the extension asks for permissions

• Tab capture — to record the tab you choose. Used only while you are recording.
• Active tab & scripting — to show the countdown, click ripples and camera bubble on the page you're recording. Injected only during a recording.
• Storage — to remember the recording state locally (e.g. which tab is being recorded).
• Microphone / camera — only if you enable them, only while recording, and the streams never leave your device.

Payments (Pro version)

Pro purchases are processed by Paddle.com, our Merchant of Record. Your payment details go to them, not to us; their privacy policy applies to the checkout. We only receive confirmation that a license was purchased.

Pro activation

To unlock Pro you enter the email address you used at checkout. That email is sent over HTTPS to our activation service (api.keep-rec.com) for one purpose only: asking Paddle whether it belongs to a completed KeepRec Pro purchase. It is not stored, not logged and not shared with anyone else. Nothing else is ever transmitted by the extension — recordings, clicks and settings all stay on your device.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the new version will be posted at this address with an updated date. The core promise — your recordings never leave your computer — will not change.
